Getting into and out of an inflatable kayak can be a bit different from a hard-shell kayak, but it’s still pretty straightforward. Here’s how:
Getting into the kayak:
- Choose a calm area with shallow water to launch your kayak.
- Lay the kayak out flat on the ground or in shallow water.
- Hold onto the sides of the kayak for stability as you lower yourself onto the kayak, sitting on the seat.
- Slowly shift your weight onto the kayak, keeping your balance.
- Once seated, bring your legs into the kayak and adjust them as needed.
Getting out of the kayak:
- Paddle to the shore or a calm area with shallow water.
- Bring the kayak to a stop and stabilize it.
- Shift your weight to the side of the kayak you want to exit from.
- Slowly lift one leg out of the kayak and place it on the ground or in the water for stability.
- Use your hands to support yourself as you carefully lift your other leg out of the kayak.
- Stand up carefully, ensuring your balance before fully exiting the kayak.
Remember to always wear a life jacket when kayaking, and if you’re new to it, it might be helpful to practice in shallow water until you’re comfortable with getting in and out of the kayak.
